Cool Owl Facts

Did you know......?

Owls are predators. They live mainly on small mammals, such as mice, squirrels, voles and rabbits. They also eat birds, and sometimes reptiles.

Owls are nocturnal.  They hunt at night to avoid competition with day time predators.

Owls, like all birds, have no teeth. his means they have to swallow the smaller prey whole. The bigger things they hunt, they have to tear into smaller pieces to eat.  They cannot chew their food, so after digesting the easier parts of their meal, they regurgitate the rest, such as the fur, bones and feathers. The regurgitated food is known as an owl pellet.

This post will be updated regularly, so keep looking every so often to find more different facts about owls.
